After a successful two years, Nick Cannon announced today that he will be stepping down from his nationally syndicated Top 40 radio show, ‘Cannon’s Countdown.’
Since the show’s premiere on April 23, 2011, the Top 40 countdown show has been broadcasted by CBS Radio stations and syndicated nationally by Cumulus Media Networks every weekend. Featuring a mix of music and celebrity interviews, the show has been available in a four-hour version for CHR pop/rhythmic stations and a three-hour edition for urban stations.
“I am extremely grateful to have had a broadcast home with CBS Radio. It has been an amazing experience working with the team these past few years,” says Nick Cannon. “I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from my on air duties in radio in order to have the time to dedicate to NCredible Entertainment and the various projects that I have on my plate in film, TV, retail and a new album. It is my plan to return to radio and my listeners very soon through my music.”
Cited by People Magazine as one of the ‘Top Ten most successful young people in Hollywood’ and featured on the covers of magazine’s such as Complex and Black Enterprises’ 40 Under 40, Nick Cannon, 32-years old is a successful, multi-faceted entertainer: film star, comedian, TV and radio host, musician, writer, director, executive producer and philanthropist.
He is the host of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” helping them draw in record-breaking viewership and will be returning to the hit show for a fifth season in row when the new season premiers on June 4th. Additionally, due to popular demand, Cannon will be bringing back the highly successful improv comedy show with musical performances ‘Wild N Out’ back, which he created in 2005, with a new cast of talent that will premiere July 9th on MTV2.
When he is not in front of the camera or a live audience, Cannon is busy running his highly successful multi-media company NCredible Entertainment, producing TV and film projects, including TeenNick’s Annual “Halo Awards” and most recently directing his first studio film, “The Function” for Lion’s Gate which is slated for release later this year. He also inked a multi-year, multi-million first look production deal with NBC Networks to develop scripted and unscripted fare for the network earlier this year and introduced a new sketch comedy show, “Incredible Crew” which premiered on Cartoon Network and out performed American Idol in all key kids demos.
NCredible Entertainment also boasts a successful music division and product division which introduced a top selling line of NCredible branded headphones at retail nationwide last year in conjunction with Monster Cable Products, Inc. which has become a top seller at retail and boasts sales projections by end of 2013 to exceed $30 million.
The final radio show broadcast of ‘Cannon’s Countdown’ is scheduled to air the weekend of June 8th.
